Rate My Theme?

July 24, 2025 — t̷h̷e̷8̷w̷o̷o̷d̷c̷u̷t̷t̷e̷r̷

I was making crazy themes last week, and I mean CRAZY ones, lol and showing them to folks on XMPP network. Naturally nobody liked them, crazy as they were. But those ones were all dark themes, and some with wild fonts and colors. During that time somebody did mention to me to use a light theme, and despite it was a jolly time and I meant to take none of it seriously, that stuck with me. So I did make a light theme.

I basically don't use any DE (desktop environment) other than Xfce4 because A: I'm very much used to it, B: I have a collection of theme files for it, C: I like it, and it's default array of software, more than the other ones. Also, as much as it might seem like I bother ricing my desktop a lot, I really don't. I could honestly spend a LOT more time with that. There's some stuff I have yet to want to do and that's create a customized tmux config, urxvt terminal settings, i3wm (fully FULLY kitted out tho) configs and all, and try a new tiling window manager. As well I think, after over a decade of Linux enjoyment for me and command line pursuit, I think I'd be open to learning vim editor, and/or neovim, because apparently this is an extremely powerful console editor, HOWEVER there are yet more cool console based things I am interested in but that's besdies the point of my post here.

Though, as with most things of mine, this is an ongoing work in progress:

Rate My Theme - Xfce4 with Compiz

This uses Compiz, on Debian 12 in Xfce4. I can't recall how but I managed to find some way of getting a high contrast applied to things like the fonts, the divider lines, and the little window/theme essences, and it looks sharp. The file manager is PCManFM, which nowadays I like 1000% more than Thunar, which will tend to freeze, and is overall a very unreliable file manager.

I would post more pics, more details, however I just got home and I plan to fix a few things. First up is the UTF-8 clocks I'm using in place of the timestamps for the twtxt posts on [Packets.cc]:443 currently. I'll keep the web updated somewhere! I am not invisible! Enjoy your Friday and happy weekend!

Some cool text texts!

March 27, 2025 — t̷h̷e̷8̷w̷o̷o̷d̷c̷u̷t̷t̷e̷r̷

I've been using Debian 12 for ALL of my Linux hosts, servers, laptop, desktop, vm's all of them eh. I've also lately been enjoying compiz on xfce4 too lately on my recently acquired HP Elitebook. Here's a screenshot of my text texts:

Profanity in terminator with snikket theme, using IBM Plex Mono font, and in the background sublime text with light sodareloaded theme, as well as compiz and emerald themer on xfce4 debian 12 hp elitebook

NEWS: I will be doing some cool stuff with TwTXT on here, my current twtxt.txt is at https://the8woodcutter.sh/twtxt.txt but I want to create a bit of a front end for it, maybe some scripts AND MAYBE EVEN A FLASK APP :D That has form fields and authentication for me to utilize (whore to the maximum) something that I wanted to do that to for long time (twtxt). Bon Voyage!
